JASON THOMPSON

BJJ INSTRUCTOR

Jason Thompson

My introduction to Jiu Jitsu was both unexpected and impactful. In 2005 at Waimea Bay, Hawaii, I unexpectedly found myself at the mercy of a technique known as the rear-naked choke, applied by a fellow surfer who was significantly smaller than me. Despite my years of training in traditional martial arts, I was unprepared for the humbling effectiveness of Jiu Jitsu. This experience, courtesy of my future friend, ignited a 20-year journey of growth and learning that continues to this day.

Jiu Jitsu has evolved into more than just a sport for me; it serves as a vital source of mental toughness, discipline, and resilience, particularly during challenging periods in my military and personal life. It has taught me to confront adversity, learn from setbacks, and maintain persistence in the face of difficulties.

Having witnessed firsthand the profound ability of Jiu Jitsu to empower and transform lives, I am passionate about sharing its transformative power within my community. Throughout this journey, I have forged incredible friendships, embarked on memorable adventures, and accumulated valuable experiences through the practice of jiu-jitsu. I am committed to giving back and fostering the same positive impact in the lives of others.

Jason holds a 1st degree black belt in Jiu Jitsu and served in the United States Air Force.
