Jalen Reyes was born in Denver, CO and raised in Littleton and later Pueblo. Jalen's jiu jitsu journey started at the young age of 12 when he spotted a Jiu Jitsu school in his hometown. Jalen strived to find a love for something that would capture his strengths and allow for him to go far as he felt only average at childhood sports. He struggled in his childhood to make friends, but jiu jitsu began to give him the confidence to become more successful in all aspects of his life. At the same time as beginning his jiu jitsu journey in middle school, he also started wrestling. These two activities marked the turning point in his life. Wrestling instilled a strong mentality towards adversity while jiu jitsu emphasized patience and calmness. Jalen won tournaments and placed as a junior and senior in high school in Colorado, Kansas, California and Wyoming. Jalen began competing in jiu jitsu at 13 years old and still does to this day. He has competed in eight professional matches and also competed in Muay Thai as an amateur. 

Jalen loves Way of Jiu Jitsu as it is his second home. He received his black belt under Professor Nobuo under Master Rigan Machado in March of 2020. He has trained at many places and says our academy is a safe place for people to train and we go the extra mile to make sure people feel welcomed while placing safety as a top priority. He emphasized that we are a family here at Way of Jiu Jitsu!
